Recruiting People understand the importance of an individual's right to privacy. Due to the nature of recruiting we collect, use, store and disclose personal and sensitive information about individuals, clients and service providers and are committed to keeping this information private and secure in compliance with Australian Privacy Laws.
What is personal information?
- According to the to the Privacy Act 1988 –Section 6, "personal information (including information or an opinion forming part of a data base), whether true or not , and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an individual who is identity is apparent, or can be reasonably ascertained, from the information or opinion".
Sensitive information
Sensitive information is a sub set of personal information. It is the information which helps define a person such as:
- Political opinions
- Membership of a political association
- Religious beliefs or affiliations
- Philosophical beliefs
- Memberships of a professional or trade association
- Membership of a trade union
- Racial or ethical origin
- Sexual preferences or practices
- Criminal record or health information about an individual
How is this information collected?
This information is collected by Recruiting People through the information you provide with your resume, via interviews, reference and background checks, tests or assessments you may undertake, performance feedback and information in the public domain
Why we store the information
We store your personal and sensitive information to ensure we have your details at hand to assist you in finding and retaining employment, analysing market trends and qualifications, marketing purposes, enabling us to facilitate or provide an effective service if you are a client or service provider and in relation to our management of a complaint, training needs, investigation, or inquiry.
How information is stored, secured and disclosed
Information about you is stored in a secured site either in softcopy on our database or in hardcopy at our premises. We make every endeavour to ensure this information is safe and can only be accessed by authorised Recruiting People staff.
At Recruiting People we believe your private/sensitive information is your life and history and we respect your privacy through disclosing your information only for the purposes for which it is primarily held.
Gaining Access to information we hold about you:
You have the right of access to the private information held about you by Recruiting People, with the exception of information which could interfere with the privacy of others or breaches of any confidentiality that is attached to that information.
If you wish to gain access to your private information you will need to verify your identity and should anticipate a moderate cost may be charged to you for postage and administration.
